Premiere Screening of The Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)  is a superhero action movie based on Marvel comic book series called 'Guardians of the Galaxy' by Dan Abnett. It is directed by James Gunn, starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Karen Gillan and Bradley Cooper.

Guardians of the Galaxy revolves around Peter Quill, a freelance ravager (space pirate) and a gang of misfits from many extraterrestrial races are coming together to save the galaxy from its destruction. The story begins with an introduction of Peter Quill's childhood where he is been abducted by an alien ship just after the death of his mother. All grown up after 26 years, it is shown that he calls himself the 'Star Lord the legendary outlaw' that no one seems to know.

The abductors trained him with the mastery of stealing, which becomes his occupation as an adult. In a quest to find a silver orb, Peter Quill finds that he is not the only one who desires of getting the orb. Later he discovers that this sphere like orb can bring mere destruction to the entire galaxy if fallen into wrong hands. Ronan, from the race Kree sends an assassin named Gamora to kill Peter Quill and to bring back the orb to him.

As there is a bounty for Peter Quill's capture, he  finds himself surrounded by Gamora, Drax the destroyer (Dave Bautista), a walking tree (Groot - Vin Diesel) and a genetically engineered raccoon named Roket (Bradley Cooper). They need each others help in several incidents like escaping a jail to fighting a battle against an army of Kree, leading them to create their own group. As the infinity stone inside the orb has the power to destroy the galaxy, all the five of them come together to share the burden of getting back the stone from Ronan.

Peter Quill's character is undoubtedly a very fascinating one with notorious twists and Chris Pratt has done a great deliverance of it. Dave Bautista also seems authentic in his performance, and given a thought he suits for this Ronan hating Drax's character. Similarly the green skin alien Gamora also fits into the group with much ease, as Zoe Saldana moves from the assassin to the team player.

Among all of them I find Rocket the raccoon's dialogues and expressions are extremely hilarious as this witty raccoon finds solutions in the most dreadful situations. Groot the walking tree also plays a very remarkable heartwarming role, although given the idea that an animated tree can be so thought provoking.

In the end Peter Quill's abductor (Yondu) says that its a good thing that he didn't deliver Peter Quill to his father as promised.

They have a happy ending obviously as their criminal records are taken out and that the group is named as the Guardians of the galaxy from now on. It is also revealed that Peter is a half human as his father is from a unknown ancient race from the galaxy indicating we will see more of their actions in the future.

The graphics and amazing visuals keep the storyline more steadfast and consistent until the end although the plot is a very light one. And the space travel, extraterrestrial species and battles will remind you the moments from Star Wars movies. Overall you will have a good time enjoying this movie as it is simple and extremely funny.

This first movie on the comic book series of the Guardians of the Galaxy appears to be a successful attempt, because everyone was eager to see the creation of the group takes place. It proves to be a sleek movie from beginning to the end, placing a higher standard on the second sequel.
