I got two premiere screening tickets for the Thai horror movie The Cursed House on the 6th of July at Cathay Cineplex eCurve.
I watched last week the Deliver Us from Evil - a horror movie based on a true story. So in
comparing I truly experience this Thai movie is much bloodcurdling than Deliver
Us from Evil. And I always find Asian horror movies are much creepier and terrifying
than Hollywood horror movies.
This story revolves around a small family of four, parents of a single child
and grandmother and their recently bought new house that has a history of
horrifying incidents.
First part of the movie shows some unfortunate events
happening to them and leading the young mother to seek help of a shaman, who
explains these occurrences are due to spirits and the remedy is with them as
how they can use good deeds to overcome these.
Nearing the end the movie takes a sudden boost of edge of the seat scary
events. But the never ending stories about the past owners of the house created an
extra burden within the viewer’s mind making it a bit unexciting.
Nevertheless you will enjoy this movie if you are a horror movie junkie as it is full of exhausting level of scary events. Yet due to a scent of Asian religious doctrines that shown in the movie you might even end up thinking Karma and deeds of good and bad cause everything in life.
