Premiere Screening of The Equalizer

The Equalizer (2014) is a action thriller genre movie based on the television series on the same name staring Denzel Washington, Marton Csokas, Chloe Grace Moretz, David Harbour, Haley Bennett, Bill Pullman and Melissa Leo.

The plot unveils introducing Robert McCall a retired black ops working in a hardware store having a quiet life.  He has given a promise to his late wife he will not go back to his old life, yet when his friend a young girl was beaten by a Russian mob member he involves in a series of fights with them. McCall learns that he can continue to help the desperate people in need and identify himself as 'The Equalizer'.

I thought it would be a lone ranger movie that does not carry any authenticity. But then with the Denzel Washington charisma it could not go wrong. Even the other characters, specially the sociopath Russian fixer also deliver a strong performance. And Denzel Washington has given some cheeky one lines throughout the movie only to find that in some scenes it sound s off the storyline.

One negative aspect of this movie is that it carries higher level of violence. Even the fighting and killing scenes are shown in a slow motion that almost looks creepy to the audience.  And the length of the movie is longer than the usual time, so the viewers find many dull and unexciting moments.

Nevertheless The Equalizer  is a entertaining movie one will not regret watching. Thanks to Nuffnang for providing the premiere tickets.

Premiere Screening of The Boxtrolls

The Boxtrolls (2014) is one of the best animations movies of this season as it is a movie that you expected to show the children for sure.

The Boxtrolls (2014) is a 3D motion animated movie based on a fantasy comedy novel 'Here be Monsters'.  It stars Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Ben Kingsley, Elle Fanning, Toni Collette, Jared Harris, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Richard Ayoade and Tracy Morgan.

It is a story about a boy named "Eggs" (you have to watch and get to know why this weird name is given for him) who was raised by the trash collecting trolls. The story unfolds relieving his adventures to save the destiny of the boxtrolls from the hands of evil pest controller named Archibold Snatcher and eventually finding his lost family.

The storyline is very effective in bringing out the adventurous journey Eggs takes to bring peace to the boxtrolls. It is one of the animation movies that will bring so much of entertainment for the children and the adults.

This wide eyed boxtrolls who wear empty boxes as clothes and run around collecting garbage are the most innocent creatures one can ever create. Although they are harmless the legends about them says that boxtrolls are destroyers, man eaters and steal children. The truth is they are so frightened of the humans.

It is a good movie for children, as it shows the importance of not believing everything they hear but to learn to explore the world.
Overall it is a pretty awesome movie that cannot be missed. I bet you will have a good time watching it.
And not forgetting a huge thanking note for Nuffnang for giving the premiere screening movie passes to watch The Boxtrolls.

Premiere Screening of Planes: Fire and Rescue

Planes: Fire and Rescue (2014) is a American animated adventure film which is a sequel to the 2013 movie Planes. It is produced by DisneyToon Studios. The voices for the main characters are given by Dane Cook, Stacy Keach, Brad Garrett, Teri Hatcher, Danny Mann and Cedric the Entertainer.

The storyline is about a plane named Dusty Crophopper finally gives up his famed role as a racer as he finds that his gearbox is damaged and that specific type of gearbox is out of production. He then gets an offer to become a firefighter, which eventually teach him winning is not the most important thing in life.

Although the storyline is a clear and a simple one, it represents some of the negative aspects in the adult world such as competition, work politics and bureaucracy. So I don't believe that this movie is only intended for children.

It carries amazing images of the landscape when dusty fly over the mountains of the national Park will remain in the children's mind for along time. And this movie is dedicated for the firefighters, which indeed is remarkable as the children are given an opportunity to be open for the sacrifices the others make each day to make this world a better place.

When comparing to the movies such as "Up" this movie lacks certain aspects of bringing out emotions, even-though can recommend as a suitable movie for the children.

I would like to thank Nuffnang for giving me the movie passes for the premiere screening of the Planes: Fire and Rescue (2014) and for the merchandize.

Premiere Screening of The Maze Runner

This may be the season of sci-fi movies since several movies on this genre has appeared on screen for the past few months. The maze Runner (2014) is a sci-fi thriller movie created based on a fantasy trilogy novel in the same name by James Dashner.

The story unveils as Thomas, a boy in his teens waking up inside a huge maze with a group of other boys. He has no memory of the outside world or how he came to this place which they call the Glade. Later he finds out that every 30 days once the Glade receives a boy who's memory has totally wiped out. The usual happens when they receive a girl (Theresa), with a note saying this is the last one. Thomas finds that there is a connection between him and the girl, but he could not figure it out.

He started remembering the past in a scattered manner after he got stung by a mechanical creature called Grievers. There he finds that he might be their only hope of escaping from the maze and end this misery. The rest of the story revolves around him and his friends trying to escape from the place. They finally manage to escape and for their despair they find that they all had been part of an experiment.

As the movie is based on a young adult fantasy novel, their target audience also seemed more towards the teenage viewers. The cast is full of young actors and actresses. Among them is the Dylan O. Brien (Thomas) from the TV series Teen Wolf, who indeed shows some strong performance.

This futuristic teen thriller seems dragging as the viewers waiting for more and more information, most of the beginning part of the movie shows a set of incidents taking place in a large field. Nevertheless the landscape and the scenery of the countryside  is indeed remarkable.

The storyline is different from the others. In much deeper meaning it looks like the storyline is speaking of the bravery of a young boy to break free of the ordinary social systems and the oppression he receives on this battle.

I hope the teenagers will enjoy this movie, as this adventurous journey of a small group of adolescents for freedom is a very enthusiastic  one.
